»I want to really feel ME.«

»Theoretically, I could slow down a little bit. I'm already very busy,« says Bianca and talks about her favorite activities – playing hockey, putting on tournaments, paragliding, traveling. »But not a package tour to Mallora. I'd rather go on an expedition, like a safari in Botswana.«

The 44-year-old Hamburger’s face lights up with a smile that shows there’s no slowing her down! Bianca, who trained as an office administrator, suffers from progressive muscular dystrophy and depends on a wheelchair. For the past six years she has received around-the-clock ventilation. Nevertheless, her appetite for adventure remains undiminished. »I want to feel me, inspire others, show them that it’s possible to do a lot more than we think,« says Bianca.

The next projects on the agenda include buggykiting in Sankt Peter-Ording first, then penguin watching in Antarctica. The preparation for her frostiest adventure to date has been going on for a quite while. Equipped with her ventilator, Bianca has already passed a 40-minute test in a cold chamber. »The technology will make it through,« Bianca says, »and my body will too.«
